Phaseolus vulgaris
70-80 days. Extremely productive and vigorous, sapphire blue, a rare dry pole bean sourced from seed explorer Joe Simcox who traced this gem back to its roots in the Northern Italian town of Bernardo. Best as a dry bean, but also can be used as a shelling or snap bean when young. Plants bear lots of purple pods that are oval 15-18cm (6-7″) long. We have been growing this one in our three sisters projects as an excellent complement to the corn.
